The market gave up the gains it had going for itself midday, but still managed to close largely flat on the session. The S&P 500 was off 0.34%, the DJIA was down 0.34% as well, and NASDAQ was higher by 0.03%. The CBOE Volatility index closed lower on the session by 1.80% to 28.32. Options Volume Leaders at the Close were… 1. Citigroup C 606,100 contracts, 59.5% calls, 4005% puts 2. Apple Inc. AAPL 335,857 contracts, 60.8% calls, 39.2% puts 3. Bank of America BAC 298,398 contracts, 37.9% calls, 62.1% puts 4. United Technologies UTX 214,014 contracts, 97.6% calls, 2.4% puts 5. General Electric GE 173,560 contracts, 33.8% calls, 66.2% puts Options action in GE and BAC continued to favor the put side for the rest of the session. Both stocks closed lower on the session marginally. I would continue to watch these names tomorrow to see how they perform as a harbinger for the overall market.
