The two significant gainers in today's after hours trading session are Whole Foods WFMI and Sybase, Inc. SY. Whole Foods (WFMI) reported better than expected earnings after the closing bell, and the shares have surged 5.07% to $42.29 in late trading. The company posted earnings per share of $0.38 compared to analysts' estimates of $0.33.
Sybase (SY) was bought out by German business software maker SAP SAP for $5.8 billion. A Bloomberg report came out in the last hour of trading about the likelihood of the deal, and SY shares shot up 35% to close at $56.14. In the after hours, the acquisition was confirmed, and SY has gained another 15.16% to $64.65 on very heavy volume.
