Card Issuers Drop On News About A New Regulation (V, MA, AXP, DFS)

A new addition in the financial reform bill will affect card issuers like Visa V and MasterCard MA. The proposed regulation will limit the interchange fee on debit and credit card transactions. This would mean more control in hands of the merchants. The news brought down the shares of prominent card companies. In early trading, Visa was down 7.10% to $79.64, MasterCard was down 6.56% to $217.06, American Express Company AXP was down 3.20% to $41.44, and Discover Financial Services DFS was down 2.43% to $14.43.
