US Stocks Rebounded Yesterday To Break The Last Two Days’ Losing Streak

US stocks rallied today to reclaim most of the losses suffered during a two-session retreat, as investors scooped up energy stocks and other battered shares. US stocks surged yesterday, erasing most of the losses incurred during the past two trading days. Energy stocks made a comeback after being pummeled in prior sessions. The chief investment strategist Bruce McCain of Key Private Bank remarked, "Today's bounce back is helping some of yesterday's biggest losers." The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied 225.52 points, or 2.3%, to 10,249.54 yesterday, erasing out nearly all of the 234.97 points, or 2.3%, loss registered by the measure in the last two sessions. The S&P 500 Index jumped 27.67 points, or 2.58%, to 1,098. The Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 58.74 points, or 2.64%, to 2,281. All 30 components of the Dow closed higher. Some of the Dow’s top gainers included American Express Company AXP, which surged 4.54%, and Walt Disney Company DIS, which rose 4.23%. At the S&P 500, the energy sector rebounded to revoke prior day’s losses and performed the best among the measure’s 10 industry groups. BP PLC BP gained 3.12% and Halliburton Company HAL, which provides oil-field services to BP, advanced 11.96%.
