FOX Business Network’s (FBN) Charlie Gasparino is reporting that the FCIC committee investigation of Goldman Sachs headed up by Phil Angelides was launched after Sen. Carl Levin’s (D-Mich.) probe and Goldman is bracing for Lloyd Blankfein to be called for testimony.
From Charlie Gasparino: “This is the subpoena from the FCIC Phil Angelides committee. This represents a new phase in the Angelides committee investigation. It surrounds trading activities at Goldman Sachs and it was launched right after the Levin committee held its hearings. At that point, sources tell FOX Business Network the Angelides committee asked for information. Goldman at first did not want to comply. They are complying now. This is somewhat of a left turn. It turns up the heat on Goldman in multiple ways. People inside Goldman tell FBN that they are bracing for Lloyd Blankfein to be called before that committee once again. As you know he went before the Levin committee. They looked at Goldman’s trading – trading against the interest of the clients. Goldman’s business model is coming under pressure; this time from the Angelides committee….that will put out a report by the end of the year.”
