Sony To Recall 535,000 Vaio Laptops

Sony Corp SNE has decided to recall around 535,000 units of its Vaio laptops from across the world. The laptops are likely to face overheating problem, which can disfigure their shape. The Tokyo, Japan-based company is recalling Vaio’s F and C Series laptops sold after January 2010. So far, 39 cases of overheating have been reported and all of them have been from outside Japan. Overheating in the reported cases resulted in damaged computer bodies. No burn-injuries have been reported so far. SNE will recall 259,000 of its laptops from the US, 103,000 units from Europe and 120,000 from Asia, including 52,000 from Japan. The company has not divulged the costs associated with the recall.
