Delta Air Lines DAL reported better-than-expected financial results for the June quarter.
Delta's net income for the quarter came in at $549 million, or $0.65 per diluted share, excluding special items, up $748 million from the level achieved a year earlier. The company’s revenues for the June quarter stood at $8.17 billion, as compared to $8.27 billion in the year ago quarter. The analysts were expecting Delta Air to earn $0.63 per share on $8.27 billion of revenue.
Delta's chief executive officer Richard Anderson said, "Delta's profit this quarter is our best result in a decade and proof that our plan has positioned us well as the economy begins its recovery… These results would not have been possible without the dedication and determination of Delta people. We're happy to recognize our employees' contributions with $90 million in profit sharing."
DAL's shares gained 0.26% in pre-market.
