Google GOOG is investigating a couple of issues involving its e-mail service. According to Google, the company received reports of an issue with Gmail earlier this morning. The firm began to investigate those issues at 10:25 a.m. At 11:45 a.m., Google said that some messages were being delayed and that attachments may fail to download. The issue was estimated to have affected less than 0.024 percent of Gmail's entire global user base. Nonetheless, Google promised to deliver an update at 12:45 p.m. At 12:43 p.m. -- two minutes before Google's own deadline -- the search engine giant provided an update to inform consumers that another update is coming. "Our team is continuing to investigate this issue," Google wrote. "We will provide an update by 9/23/13 1:45 PM with more information about this problem. Thank you for your patience." All messages sent were received very quickly. Likewise, Benzinga had no issues downloading attachments. While the reported issues seem to be minor, the errors are noteworthy because they are the first that Google has had in more than a month. On August 16, all of Google's services -- Gmail, Calendar, Google Talk, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, Google Presentations, Google Drawings, Google Sites, Google Groups, Admin console and Postini Services -- suffered a massive outage. Blogger, Google Maps, Google Voice and Google Analytics were also affected. Disclosure: At the time of this writing, Louis Bedigian had no position in the equities mentioned in this report.
