These Small Cap Companies Have Big Dividends Approaching

Small cap companies that pay a significant dividend are few and far between.

These companies have an ex date (the date by which you need to own the company to receive the dividend) in November, an annual dividend yield greater than 5.5 percent and a market capitalization between 200 and 600 million:

Nordic American Tankers NAT

Nordic American Tankers owns and operates 20 Suezemax tankers to transport oil in the spot market. In an exclusive interview with Benzinga earlier this year,  CEO Herbjorn Hansson stated about the dividend, “This is a balancing act [we can] use financial resources to buy more ships or pay dividends.” A dividend has been paid for 65 straight quarters.

The company’s annual yield is 7.84 percent. The upcoming ex date is November 26th, the record date is November 29th, and the $0.16 dividend will be paid on December 11th. Shares of Nordic American Tankers closed at $8.16 Thursday.

Student Transportation Inc STB

Student Transportation is the third-largest school bus operator in North America. The company generates most of its business (87 percent ) from home to school busing, across Canada and the United States. The company owns roughly 9,600 vehicles for 227 contracts.

The annual dividend yield is 8.82 percent. The upcoming ex date is November 26th, the record date is November 29th, and payment of the $0.0464 dividend will be on December 16th. Shares ended Thursday at $6.31.

GFI Group GFIG 

GFI operates in financial space, providing trading services and software for institutional customers. The company has historically focused on over the counter derivative transactions, which command higher commissions. GFI has been expanding its business to cash bonds and futures contracts in recent years.

GFI currently pays a 5.76 percent annual dividend. The rapidly approaching ex date is November 13th, the record date is November 15th, and the $0.05 dividend will be paid at the end of the month on November 29th. Shares of CFIG closed at $3.47 Thursday.
