may not be ready to release a 64-bit smartphone anytime soon. According to
AppleInsider
, the company continued to hype its plans for an iPhone 5S competitor at a recent analyst event. But its release date has been pushed out "indefinitely," indicating that a 64-bit Galaxy S or Galaxy Note may not arrive for a while. Samsung's next major smartphone is likely to be the Galaxy S5. While a release date has not been set, the company typically updates its flagship model every spring. Rumors claim that the device could offer a
16-megapixel camera
. The Galaxy S5 could also have a
super-high resolution display
with pixel densities up to 560ppi and a total resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. By 2015, Samsung is rumored to bring Ultra HD display technology (also known as 4K) to its mobile devices.

These efforts are designed to combat
AppleAAPL
, which has successfully built several products that use its trademarked Retina Display technology. In fact, the company only produces a few products that
don't
contain a Retina Display: iPod Nano, iPod Classic, iMac and MacBook Air. Apple still builds older iPads with low-resolution displays, and its Thunderbolt Display has yet to receive the Retina treatment. But that will likely change over the next few years. In 2014, Apple is rumored to build an iPhone with a sapphire display that could

. This rumor
started in September
when Taiwan makers reported that sapphire glass would make its way into the fifth-generation iPad. Now that Apple has
inked a deal
