Electronic Arts EA COO Peter Moore has announced some big news for its PlayStation 4 launch lineup.
The company has released more games for Sony's SNE new console than any other publisher, including Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Need for Speed Rivals and NBA Live 14.
Before the console was released, Activision's ATVI Call of Duty: Ghosts reigned supreme, garnering 440,772 pre-orders. Among PS4 games, Battlefield 4 came in second with 360,563 pre-orders. Madden had 105,630 pre-orders, while 68,986 consumers committed to purchasing FIFA. An additional 57,528 put down money for Need for Speed.
All told, Electronic Arts pre-sold at least 592,707 games before PlayStation 4 was released.
Now that the console has been released and consumers have taken possession of those games, Moore has published the following tweet (via IGN):
Market News and Data brought to you by Benzinga APIsGamers are speaking…our week 1 estimates show that 1 of every 3 #PS4 games sold is an @EA game! #FIFA14 #Madden25 #BF4 #NeedforSpeed
— Peter Moore (@petermooreEA) November 19, 2013
If Moore's estimates are correct, game publishers may have collectively sold 1.8 million PlayStation 4 games (592,707 x 3 = 1,778,121).
In fact, that is roughly the number investors will come to if they add up all of the pre-ordered PlayStation 4 games that were released on November 15.

Not every consumer pays for games in advance, however. Some merely drive to the store and buy them once they are released. It is not yet known how many additional games could have been sold as a result.
For now, it is safe to assume that publishers have sold at least 1.8 games for every console purchased. It should be interesting to see if that attach rate continues when PlayStation 4 is released in Europe on November 29.
