Apple AAPL can afford to buy GM. The No. 1 US auto firm makes a fair amount of money, has nearly 20% of the American car market, and is the largest car manufacturer in China–along with its joint venture partners GM’s market value, which will be confirmed by its IPO, is about $50 billion.
