UPDATE: Phil Mickelson, Carl Icahn, William T. Walters Being Investigated by FBI, SEC over Clorox Trades in 2011

The F.B.I., SEC and federal prosecutors, are attempting to determine if Carl Icahn leaked details of his attempted takeover of Clorox CLX in 2011 to gambler William T. Walters, according to sources reported by the New York Times. Walters, who owns golf courses and golfer Phil Mickelson, reportedly both placed trades in Clorox about that time, and investigators are attempting to determine if Walters passed information about the Icahn bid to Mickelson. Icahn began building a stake in Clorox on December 21, 2010 and bid $76.50 to takeover the consumer products company on July 15, 2011. Icahn had a 9.4% stake in Clorox at the time of the offer. He disclosed his stake in a 13D filing on February 11, 2011. Icahn told CNBC on Friday he has never given out inside information and is not aware of an investigation.
