Verizon VZ Business announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded it a $169M contract to manage and secure the agency's IP and data networks. Verizon Business had been providing services under the GSA's Federal Telecommunications Service 2001 (FTS2001) contract, the predecessor of the Networx program. AT&T T announced it will launch the TerreStar Genus satellite-enabled smartphone which is designed to operate outside regular cellular coverage. The handset will be available by YE10 for $799. Satellite options will cost $25/month extra plus $0.65/minute of calling. Nokia NOK announced it will delay delivery of its N8 handset by a few weeks. The company noted it needed time to make final adjustments. MetroPCS PCS announced it has launched the first commercially available 4G LTE service in Las Vegas. MetroPCS simultaneously announced the launch of the Samsung Craft, a 4G LTE-enabled handset featuring a 3.3-inch touch screen, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth compatibility, a 3.2-magapixel camera, and expandable micro-SD memory.
