The Ebola scare scaled new heights Monday after a flight that landed at Boston's Logan International Airport was met by medical crews in full hazmat regalia because five passengers reported flu-like symptoms.

The United Emirates Airlines flight originated in Dubai, and none of the sick had been traveling in West Africa where an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus is ongoing, Matthew Brelis, spokesman for airport operator Massport told the Boston Globe.

Airport officials decided to isolate the sick passengers and evaluate their condition "out of an abundance of caution," Brelis said.

The disease has killed more than 3,000 people in West Africa. Thomas Eric Duncan, traveling from West Africa fell ill and died from the disease in Texas recently, infecting a nurse there who treated him.

Louisiana's State Attorney General Buddy Caldwell wants to block the disposal of incinerated waste from Duncan's personal items at a Louisiana landfill.

Separately, on Sunday, a passenger on a flight from New York to Los Angles fell ill and the aircraft plane was reportedly taken to a remote gate at Los Angles International. The passenger apparently didn't have Ebola and other passengers were permitted to leave the plane after a few hours.
