Spain's Repsol SA REPYY is offering US$8.3 billion, or US$8.00 per share to takeover Talisman Energy, according to sources reported by The Globe and Mail late Monday. Talisman's Board of Directors is reportedly reviewing an offer submitted by Repsol, according to an earlier report from Reuters.
Talisman earlier today confirmed it was in talks with Repsol and had been approached by other companies. One of those companies was reported by Bloomberg to be Canada Pension.
Talisman shares closed Monday at $5.12 and traded as high as $6.65 after-hours.
