The Dow gained 0.92 percent to 17,927.73, while the NASDAQ composite index rose 0.79 percent to 5,053.67. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index climbed 0.80 percent to 2,096.77. The worst performing industries in the market today are: Photographic Equipment & Supplies: This industry declined 4.2 percent by 11:00 am with GoPro Inc GPRO moving down 2.8 percent. Citi made cautious comments for GoPro. Department Stores: The industry dropped 1.3 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Sears Holdings Corp SHLD, which declined 4 percent. Sears said an affiliate will raise funds through a rights offering to purchase Sears stores and lease them back to Sears. Discount, Variety Stores: This industry tumbled 1.1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Zulily Inc ZU, which fell 0.8 percent. Zulily's PEG ratio is 2.06. Data Storage Devices: This industry fell 0.9 percent by 11:00 am ET. Violin Memory Inc VMEM shares dropped 3.2 percent in today's trading. Violin Memory shares have dropped 26.55 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has surged 7.01 percent in the same period.
