AXIS Capital Reports Third Quarter EPS of $1.78

AXIS Capital Holdings Limited AXS today reported net income available to common shareholders for the third quarter of 2010 of $239 million, or $1.78 per diluted common share, compared with a net loss of $96 million, or $0.70 per diluted common share, for the third quarter of 2009. Net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2010 was $556 million, or $4.04 per diluted common share, compared with $179 million, or $1.19 per diluted common share, for the corresponding period in 2009. Operating income for the third quarter of 2010 was $164 million, or $1.22 per diluted common share, compared with $152 million, or $1.00 per diluted common share, for the third quarter of 2009. Operating income for the nine months ended September 30, 2010 was $439 million, or $3.20 per diluted common share, compared with $490 million, or $3.26 per diluted common share for the first nine months of 2009.
