Principal Financial Group, Inc. Announces Third Quarter EPS of $.44

Principal Financial Group, Inc. PFG today announced results for third quarter 2010. The company reported operating earnings of $218.9 million for third quarter 2010, compared to $219.1 million for third quarter 2009. Operating earnings per diluted share (EPS) were $0.68 for the third quarter 2010 and 2009. The company reported net income available to common stockholders of $142.2 million, or $0.44 per diluted share for the three months ended Sept. 30, 2010, compared to $184.7 million, or $0.57 per diluted share for the three months ended Sept. 30, 2009. Operating revenues for third quarter 2010 were $1,986.7 million compared to $1,961.0 million for the same period last year.
