M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. ("MACOM") MTSI, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for broadcast video infrastructure, today announced along with Marshall Electronics the development of Marshall's V-IO21 and V-IO20 12G-SDI Optical Converters from MACOM's award-winning 12G chipset. 12G-SDI is the latest data rate in the evolution of the SDI standard, and is required to support 4K video resolutions at 60 frames per second over a single coaxial cable, or optical fiber.
Marshall's V-IO21 converts two 12G-SDI inputs to one optical SFP module with two corresponding outputs. The V-IO20, a complementary product to the V-IO21, converts one optical SFP module with two inputs to two 12G-SDI outputs.
"We use the MACOM SDI chipset in our new 12G Converters because we have come to recognize MACOM products for their reliability and functionality," said Greg Boren, Product Marketing Engineer, Marshall Electronics. "Together with MACOM, Marshall Electronics is able to dramatically improve the communication of 4K content."
"Marshall Electronics' new line of converters fills an important need for the broadcast industry's transition to 4K," said Ryan Latchman, Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Applications Engineering, High-Performance Analog, MACOM. "We are pleased that Marshall could leverage our chipset and enable the industry to extend 4K transmission to longer distances over optical fiber."
Marshall Electronics will be presenting the new V-IO21 and V-IO20 Optical Converters at IBC 2015, Booth 11.D20, in Amsterdam, Netherlands from September 11-15. The new V-IO21 and V-IO20 Optical Converters are the latest additions to Marshall's popular line of broadcast converters, including the V-IO12 and V-IO14 12G-SDI Distribution Amplifiers.
MACOM's complete 12G-SDI portfolio will be shown in demonstrations for customers, partners, press and analysts at IBC 2015, Booth 8.A19 in Hall 8 of the RAI Convention Center, in Amsterdam, Netherlands from September 11-15. For more information or to schedule a demonstration, please contact your local MACOM sales representative. For more information about IBC 2015, please visit www.ibc.org.
