Bank Stocks Running Higher (BAC, GS, WFC, XLF)

If you are looking for the strength in the market today, look to the financial sector. The strong outperformance in the sector today would appear to be a very healthy sign for the broader market. Financials have not participated to a significant degree in the recent rally in equities. If the sector continues to break out, it is a likely indication that the major averages can continue to move higher. During Friday's trading session, the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF XLF has jumped 2.06% to $15.55 on heavy volume. Nearly 100 million XLF shares have already changed hands compared to a daily average of 85 million. Bank of America BAC has surged 4.04% to $12.62. Wells Fargo WFC is up 4.59% to $28.72. Goldman Sachs GS has gained 2.55% to $170.63.
