US Stock Futures Points Lower Start On Wall Street

US stock futures are signaling lower start on Wall Street today. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 29 points to 11,347.00 and S&P 500 futures fell 5.70 points to 1,217.30. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 7.25 to 2,177.50. The US dollar gained against its major rivals. US stock markets closed higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones industrial average gaining 0.08% and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index moving up 0.39%. No major economic data are due for release today. According to the Wall Street Journal, AOL Inc AOL is exploring strategic options for the company. The strategic options include a possible tie-up with Yahoo Inc YHOO. AOL has also hired financial advisers to explore the options. Berkshire Hathaway Inc BRK reported a fall in its Q3 net profit. However, the company's operating earnings came in at $2.79 billion, up from $2.06 billion, in the year-ago period. Some of the companies including Frontier Communications Corp FTR, Priceline.com PCLN, Progressive Corp PGR and Sysco Corp SYY are all set to report their quarterly earnings today. Most of the European stock markets are trading lower. Japan's Nikkei average gained 1.1%. The dollar index gained 0.71% to 77.09. The euro lost about 0.8%.
