2 Strong Gainers (HIBB, ANN)

Despite the general malaise on Wall Street today, there are a handful of stocks that are moving higher today, on heavy volume, for a variety of reasons. Hibbett Sports, Inc. HIBB is up $3.64 to $31.80, a gain of over 12% after the company forecast better than expected earnings for the fourth quarter. Hibbett year, projected fourth-quarter profit of 47 to 50 cents a share. AnnTaylor Stores Corporation Co ANN is up 9% after the woman's clothing retailer reported better than expected earnings. Ann Taylor said it earned 41 cents per share on revenues of $505.3 million. Analysts expected 34 cents per share on $492.8 million in revenue. The company also provided better than expected earnings, saying fourth quarter revenues will be $500 million and full year will be $1.97 billion. Wall Street expects $495 million and $1.95 billion.
