The latest mobile site performance numbers are out, and according to the AppDynamics/Mobile Strategies 360 Performance Index, there are new speed kings of both 3G and 4G networks.
The index tracks the speed and general performance of a sampling of the most popular mobile sites. Measurements include first render time, visually complete time, number of elements loaded and complete load size. A site’s final Speed Score is calculated based on these four metrics.
Overall, the average 4G Speed Score came in at 6.4 seconds, while the average 3G Speed Score was 9.8 seconds.
Etsy Inc ETSY has taken over the top spot on the 3G performance list, ahead of closest public rival American Airlines Group Inc AAL.
“Etsy shaved almost 200 kilobytes off of their complete load, while maintaining an average of 62 elements loaded,” AppDynamics senior product manager Peter Kancandes explains.
