Afternoon Market Update (TJX, DAL, ALK, LCC, LFL, RYAAY, CPA, ANF)

Shares of TJX Companies Inc TJX dropped after the company reported 3% rise in its November same-store sales. However, analysts estimated a rise of 2.9% in same-store sales. TJX's total sales increased 7% to $2 billion. TJX said, "Business throughout the Thanksgiving week and weekend was brisk and customer traffic continued to be up over strong increases last year, underscoring our belief that value is key for shoppers this holiday season." US Airline stocks moved down, with the NYSE Arca Airline Index (XAL) dropping 0.40%. The top decliners in the list included Air Lines DAL, Alaska Air ALK and US Airways LCC. Some of the gainers were Lan Airlines SA LFL, Ryanair Holdings Plc RYAAY and Copa Holdings SA CPA. Shares of Abercrombie & Fitch Co ANF surged about 10.3% after the retailer reported 22% surge in its November same-store sales. However, analysts were expecting a rise of 6.8% in same-store sales.
