Multinational conglomerate companies are some of today's best winners, led by shares of General Electric Company GE.
At last check, shares of GE were up 3%. Other companies like Olin OLN, ABB ABB and Siemens SI are all up around 2% on the day.
GE announced earlier that it's finance arm would continue to see increased gains in 2011 and 2012, which is helping the stock today.
The other conglomerate stocks are up in sympathy with GE, but on lower than normal volume.
General Electric Company operates as a technology, media, and financial services company worldwide. Its Energy Infrastructure segment produces gas, steam, and aero derivative turbines; generators; combined cycle systems; and renewable energy.
