H&R Block, Inc. HRB today reported a net loss from continuing operations for the fiscal second quarter ended Oct. 31, 2010, of $106.8 million, or $0.35 per share compared to a loss of $126.5 million, or $0.38 per share in the second quarter a year ago. H&R Block typically reports a second quarter operating loss due to the seasonality of its business.
The consolidated net loss was $109.0 million, or $0.36 per share, compared to a loss of $128.6 million, or $0.38 per share, in the prior year period. Total revenues were down 1.0 percent from the prior year to $322.9 million.
