Oppenheimer has published a research report on November's Architecture Billings Index after witnessing a strong rebound after September and October low points.
In the report, Oppenheimer writes "The November 2010 Architecture Inquiries Index (AII) remained quite elevated at 61.4, following 61.7 in October. Elevated Inquiries have historically indicated initial construction design activity is pending. However, the elevated November AII reading is mitigated by the AIA's recent collection of information on a potentially new leading indicator— newly signed design contracts. Fewer firms reported signed contract increases vs. increases in billings in November. Thus, architecture firm workload acceleration isn't a certainty in the months ahead. See the following page for a historical Billings/Inquiries chart depicting recent/longer-term trends."
