Vodafone Lower In Pre-Market (VOD, TKC)

Vodafone PLC VOD traded lower today in pre-market trading. Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleria A.S. TKC issued public comments related to the Turkish market. According to Reuters, TKC saw the mobile phone penetration rate in Turkey rising in 2011, and that profitability was improving in Turkcell's Ukraine and Belarus units. The introduction of mobile number portability in Turkey in late 2008 saw users ditch multiple SIM cards in favour of one operator -- launching a punishing price war and hitting penetration rates. Vodafone Turkey has the highest growth rate in the British telecommunication company's European operations, according to Vodafone Turkey CEO, Serpil Timuray. Timuray said the exemplary success of Vodafone Turkey had made the country a reference point for other subsidiaries of the group. “Vodafone Turkey has grown well above the market average,” she said, adding that the company is the only operator to register growth in the 3rd quarter.
