According to an article from TheStreet.com, retail sales last week fell 4.1% from the prior year, as the giant snowstorm in the Northeast probably cost retailers $1 billion in sales.
ShopperTrak, which tracks retail shopping data, said foot traffic data was down 11.2% from a year ago on the day after Christmas due to the storm.
This affected the in-store sales at companies like Wal-Mart WMT, Target TGT, Macy's M, and J.C. Penney's JCP.
