Is Google Going After Apple Again? (GOOG, AAPL)

Google GOOG may be going after Apple AAPL again, as the company has begun potential talks with several magazine publishers about creating a digital newsstand. The Wall Street Journal first reported the story, and the newsstand would be for tablets and smartphones running the Android operating system. Google has discussed the venture with publishers including Time Warner Inc's TWX Time Inc unit, Conde Nast and Hearst Corp. The search giant has said told publishers it will take a smaller revenue percentage than iTunes takes. Apple currently takes a 30% cut. Google also has said that it will give publishers certain personal data of customers that purchase the digital versions. Shares of Google are up $2.01 in pre-market trading to $595.98.
