Unemployment Rate Drops to 9.4 Percent – Market Update

December's Nonfarm Payroll number did not quite live up to expectations at +103,000.  Expectations were for a +150,000 increase after a strong Automatic Data Processing (ADP) number earlier this week.  The unemployment rate dropped from 9.8 percent to 9.4 percent, but it appears this is due to a drop in the labor force and not from substantial job creation.
