Shares of Strayer Education STRA are getting absolutely crushed on Monday morning after the company slashed its 2011 forecast. Strayer also reported that new student enrollment for the winter term fell 20% from the prior year.
The stock has lost 22.34% to $119.00. The news from STRA is having a devastating effect on the entire for-profit education sector. Among other companies that have been hard hit are Capella Education CPLA, which has lost 14% to $57.83, and DeVry DV which is down 15% to $40.41.
