Netflix's NFLX foray into the talk show format will officially begin May 11th.
Chelsea Handler, who has come on board to host the currently unnamed new series made the announcement on Wednesday via Twitter. It was a fitting way to break the news given Handlers consistent presence across social media.
In the note Handler explained her new talker will air three a days week on Netflix (Weds-Fri) and will run for 30 minutes with no commercial breaks. More information is expected to be revealed in the coming days, but for now this is the main information coveted by investors.
Handler made headlines when she left her former home E! to come to Netflix, but at the time that was all that was revealed. Talk shows are one area not currently on the streaming giant and an area its executive team has previously said was of great interest.
What investors will want to know next is the show's exact format which based on Handler's note make it seem she may not be confined to a traditional studio and desk. Given Netflix's disruptor status, that's not a real surprise but since the network has never done daily episodic content, when shareholders get answers, it seems to prompt more questions.
