Hewlett Packard Enterprise's CEO: A Donald Trump Presidency Won't Be Good For Business

Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co HPE is no fan of Donald Trump, despite being a Republican herself.

Back in early March, Whitman said Trump's economic policies would "penalize global companies who are trying to be competitive globally," and despite his rhetoric, "there are no silver bullets and quick fixes to our problems in the United States."

On Wednesday, the executive was a guest on CNBC's "Squawk On The Street" and said that her position on Trump has not changed over the past few months.

"I don't think a Trump presidency would be good for our business," she said. "I'm exactly where I was three months ago — I'm not supporting Donald Trump and under no circumstances will I support him."

Whitman added, "[H]is policies around free trade would be damaging to businesses as a whole."

"We have to be the most cost effective competitor in the world," she explained. She added that if companies are prohibited from manufacturing "in the right locations," that implies "jobs in the United States will be in jeopardy because Hewlett Packard Enterprises won't thrive."

Whitman continued that around one-third of Republican business people she has interacted with also won't support a Trump presidency. Another one-third of executives "just don't know what to do," while the other one-third will merely "fall in line" and support the Republican candidate nominee.
