"I'm getting ghost, I'm hearing noises; I think it's the boys, but I been banking at Deutsche."
Jay Z in Pusha T's song "Drug Dealers Anonymous."
Wait, what? Did Jay Z say he used bankers at Deutsche Bank AG (USA) DB to hide his drug money?
According to the lyrics from the new song, this is the case. After all, Jay Z's past as a drug dealer has been well documented by the artist himself.
However, a "source familiar with the situation" told Quartz that Jay Z is not actually a client of Deutsche Bank. Nevertheless, the bank is unlikely to be happy with the association given its own past scandals in which paid a $258 million fine for providing financial services to enemies of the U.S. government.
The song also makes references to Jay Z's un-named accountant who was "hula-hooping through loopholes, working around shit."
Perhaps we should all take the song for what it is - a great rhyme.
