Twitter has been blocked in Egypt, according to Mashable, as the riots occurring in Cairo continue to take place.
In a tweet, Twitter wrote, “We're not the experts on how Twitter is being used in highly developing situations 1000s of miles from our comfortable HQ in SF,” the company tweeted. “The experts are those using Twitter on the ground and those coordinating with them around the world.”
Many are speculating that the government has shut down Twitter and other social media sites for now, while it tries to get the situation under control. Hash tags that were being used from people in Egypt to describe the situation are #Jan25, #EgyRevolt and #Egypt.
