Rite Aid January Same Store Sales up 1.1%

Rite Aid Corporation RAD today announced sales results for January. For the four weeks ended January 22, 2011, same store sales increased 1.1 percent over the prior-year period. Front-end same store sales increased 2.2 percent while pharmacy same store sales, which included an approximate 230 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, increased 0.6 percent. Prescription count at comparable stores was flat compared to the prior-year period. Total drugstore sales for the four-week period were flat with sales of $1.913 billion compared to $1.913 billion for the same period last year. Prescription revenue accounted for 69.1 percent of drugstore sales, and third party prescription revenue represented 93.3 percent of pharmacy sales.
