Shares of Gannett Co GCI fell about 0.7% after the company reported its Q4 results. The company reported its net income at $0.72 per share, compared with $0.56 per share, in the year-ago period. The company's adjusted earnings came in at $0.83 per share. GCI reported its revenue at about $1.46 billion. However, analysts expected earnings at $0.81 per share on $1.47 billion of revenue.
Shares of Illinois Tool Works Inc ITW dropped about 0.4% after the company reported 23% decline in its Q4 net income. The company's net income came in at $392.8 million, or $0.79 per share, versus $507.4 million, or $1.01 per share, in the year-ago period. ITW reported its earnings from continuing operations at $0.79 per share. The company's revenue came in at $4.17 billion, up from $3.76 billion, in the year-ago quarter. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $0.80 per share. ITW projected its 2011 earnings from continuing operations of $3.60 to $3.84 per share.
