Leading the pack, as usual, was Time Warner Inc TWX's cable darling HBO, which scored 94 nominations. Even though that's 32 fewer than it earned last year, it still is a dominant performance, as "Game of Thrones" earned 23 total nods, the most of any program on TV. Reigning Best Comedy "Veep" also had a solid showing and is again a favorite to repeat.
Behind HBO was Twenty-First Century Fox Inc FOX FOXA's cable network FX, which earned 56 nominations, including a huge amount for its two biggest projects. The tremendously well-received "American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson" collected 22 nominations, while the second season of the equally acclaimed "Fargo" snared 18.
Then there was streaming success from Netflix, Inc. NFLX, which led all comers in that area with 54 nominations, 20 more than its 2014 haul. Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN was next with 16. The majority of Netflix's nominations came from "House of Cards," while Amazon continued to see success with "Transparent." Both series were nominated for Best Series in their respective fields.
