4 New Things We Know About Apple Watch

Apple Inc. AAPL investors are cheering Tuesday's earnings report. The stock surged higher by more than 7 percent Wednesday morning.

While many investors and analysts are focused on Apple's iPhone sales and outlook, the company actually revealed a good amount of detail about its watch product, known also as simply the Apple Watch.

Apple has typically been more quiet in revealing details of the Watch compared to the iPhone. The company also doesn't break out the Watch's financial performance and is rarely, if ever, discussed during a post earnings conference call.

In fact, analysts who were part of Apple's conference call didn't ask a single question about the Watch or the Mac.

Here is what we learned about the Watch from Apple's conference call and speaking with Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster, one of the Street's top Apple analyst.

Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, said during the conference call that the Apple Watch is the best selling smartwatch in the world. The watch was also ranked the highest in customer satisfaction by JD Power & Associates in the smartwatch category.

Speaking as a guest on Wednesday's Premarket Prep show, Munster suggested that the success of Apple's Watch will be tied to its "decoupling" from the iPhone. The pro also said that the Watch is well suited to play into the future of augmented reality developments.
