The New York Times Company Reports Q4 EPS of $.46 vs. $.35

The New York Times Company NYT announced today 2010 fourth-quarter and full-year results, which are detailed below. Total revenues decreased 2.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010 compared with the fourth quarter of 2009 as advertising and circulation revenues declined 3.1 percent and 3.6 percent, respectively. Increased digital advertising revenues, which rose 11.1 percent, partially offset a 7.2 percent decrease in print advertising revenues. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations excluding severance and the special items discussed below were $.46 per share in the fourth quarter of 2010 compared with $.44 in the same period of 2009. On a GAAP basis, the Company had diluted earnings per share from continuing operations of $.44 per share in the fourth quarter of 2010 compared with $.48 in the fourth quarter of 2009.
