Live Cattle Futures Little Lower

August live cattle is trading at 117.20, down 0.47 cents/lb. October live cattle is trading at 115.00, down 0.52 cents/lb. December live cattle is trading at 115.40, down 0.27 cents/lb. Live cattle futures are trading lower just after the open. Market chatter about cash market prices and consumer demand is making the rounds. Last week's USDA cattle slaughter was 579,000 head , up 8.4 percent versus a year ago. Beef production was up 6.8 percent. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's cattle-on-feed report is due out Friday August 19th.
