Motorola Fires A Shot At Apple (MMI, AAPL)

Last night, Motorola Mobility MMI showed off its new Xoom tablet, and in the process, fired a shot at Apple AAPL. In the commercial, there are plenty of people dressed in white acting like lemmings, with ear buds in their ears, similar to those of a iPod. The commercial is a play off of Apple's "1984" commercial, that debuted the Apple II. The Xoom may well have its hands full, considering pricing for the tablet. A leaked Best Buy BBY ad shows that the 10.1" tablet will go on sale for $799.99, $100 more than the most powerful iPad yet. The Xoom does have features that are better than the current version of the iPad, such as two cameras, a 1080p screen resolution and a HDMI output. The flyer also mentions a data plan, $20 per month for 1 GB of data. Apple is expected to announced the iPad 2 sometime later this month. There has already been reports of an iPad 2 in the wild,NWSA.
