Microsoft releases Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate

Microsoft today held a press conference to announce the release of the release candidate (RC) version of Internet Explorer 9, bringing small user interface tweaks and bug fixes. Internet Explorer 9 has been in the beta stage since September of 2010 and the RC version of Microsoft's latest Web browser means that the company is getting ready to release it.

Changes in the release candidate build of Internet Explorer 9 include improved browser and JavaScript performance, and Microsoft actually claims that the JavaScript engine that Internet Explorer 9 runs on is the fastest one available. Microsoft also revealed that frame pixels have been reduced by five since the beta version and that the menu in the browser has been updated with a “paste and navigate” feature. The feature allows users to automatically perform a search on something in your clipboard.

Internet Explorer 9 also includes the ability for tabs to be placed underneath the address bar, like in previous versions of IE. The option for right-sided tabs remains.

The release candidate of Internet Explorer 9 can be downloaded at Microsoft's website.
