Cramer: Nuclear Energy A Pipedream For U.S.

In an energy update that included a recommendation for Peabody Energy Corp. BTU, Patriot Coal Corporation PCX, and other coal providers, Jim Cramer said that we need to stop pretending who we think we are and give up on the dream for nuclear energy. “Who are we to say coal is bad?” Cramer asked sarcastically. “Because it kills 20,000 people a year?” “We'd rather be cold” than use nuclear energy, Cramer said. “I'm not being cynical.” Instead, Cramer says that we're a country that's involved with ethanol because it “helps elect politicians.” Cramer, who (according to his own statement) has been pro-nuclear energy since 1979, added that coal and ethanol are really powerful in this country. Thus, Cramer still recommends the aforementioned names in coal because he said he wants to make people money – and in this country, coal is where it's at.
