We are initiating weekly coverage of the top performing ETF's in the US Equities Asset Class. This provides an interesting contrast to the tracking of the top US equity styles. Currently, the top US Equity styles, measured by an ETF of each sub-class has the following shape:

The trend score is defined as the average of 1,4,13,26 and 52 week total returns (including dividend reinvested).
In the weekly trend (above) which has a shorter timeframe, we can see that Smallcap ETFs are rising to the top whereas over the longer term (below) the Midcap ETFs are still at the top as investors have slowly migrated to smaller cap ETFs as the bull market has retained its strength.
Large cap ETFs have remained at the bottom of the list with only one making the top ten.
This is instructive because although the Smallcaps are doing better now and are well represented in the top ten list, when taken over a longer timeframe, a Midcap ETF is worth considering because, sooner or later, a correction will occur.

It will be interesting to see whether the US equities are impacted by the current turmoil in North Africa and the Middle East especially if there is a move back to Midcap or even Largecap ETFs.
