Facebook Inc FB announced on Tuesday that its Oculus Touch product is now available for purchase.
Facebook's $199 Oculus Touch package includes two controllers and a tracking camera is intended to complement the $599 virtual reality platform Oculus Rift.
As noted by The Verge, the Touch controllers "fit firmly in the palm, guiding your forefinger over a springy trigger and curling the rest of your fingers around a large lower grip button that depresses when you make a fist."
The Verge's review concluded that the Touch "works great" and brings the entire Oculus package "as far as its current technology can manage, and done so with aplomb."
Gamespot's review of the new controllers shared a similar sentiment that it's a "a necessary part" of the entire Oculus Rift package and "feels like the missing piece of the puzzle."
Gamers Can Rejoice
In conjunction with the launch of Touch, Facebook released 54 games and experiences each of which is "designed to make immersion and social interaction more authentic."
"Hand presence opens up new opportunities to interact with others while experiencing VR — and this is just the first step," Facebook added in its announcement. "We can't wait to see the next wave of immersive content made possible with Touch."
