Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN is more than five years into its Locker program, and so far, the remote delivery option has permeated the fitness scene, college campuses and convenience stores. On Monday, Amazon Locker became a palpable presence in the financial space.
BBVA Compass, a regional bank with 345 branches in Texas, announced that it will pilot the package pickup program at 11 of its sites. This marks the Locker’s bank debut in the United States.
Seven of the branches are in Austin — the known technology hub of the state — and their Lockers will be available to customers around the clock.
What Is Amazon Locker?
Amazon Locker is a free delivery option for online orders. Customers choosing this method pick up or return their packages at selected locker locations using a personal access code.
The Lockers are accessible in most major cities and are often used by apartment renters or others whose deliveries are not always safely delivered to the door.
