Interactive Brokers Joins Commission-Free ETF Game

Add another brokerage to the growing list of those offering commission-free trades on select ETFs, though this announcement is far from earth-shattering. Interactive Brokers said today it will offer commission-free trades on five FactorShares ETFs. The ETFs are as follows: FactorShares 2X: S&P500 Bull/TBond Bear FSE FactorShares 2X: TBond Bull/S&P500 Bear FSA FactorShares 2X: S&P500 Bull/USD Bear FSU FactorShares 2X: Oil Bull/S&P500 Bear FOL FactorShares 2X: Gold Bull/S&P500 Bear FSG Interactive Brokers is an automated global electronic market maker and broker specializing in routing orders and executing and processing trades in securities, futures, foreign exchange instruments, bonds and funds on more than 90 electronic exchanges and trading venues around the world. Five ETFs sans commissions is better than none, but TDAmeritrade AMTD offers over 100 ETFs commission free. Fidelity offers a broad swath of iShares ETFs on a commission-free basis while clients of Vanguard and Charles Schwab SCHW can trade ETFs issued by those firms free of charge.
